MODELLAGE – ARTIFICIAL NAIL WHAT IS THAT EXACTLY?
The term "Modellage" (Set) refers to the extension and strengthening of the natural nail with a hardening gel. We only use acid-free Alessandro Soft Gel. You can read about the other necessary steps on our
I BITE MY NAILS – IS THERE STILL HOPE?
Yes especially for Nail biters, the Nail modellage is "THE" best way to stop biting your nails. We do emphasize that you return for follow-up treatment every 2 to 3 weeks, since the nail beds of nail biters are usually quite damaged.
DURATION OF TREATMENT
For a complete set, you must expect at least 1 ½ to 2 hours. The follow-up treatment usually takes approximately 1 hour (re-filling).
DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
YES, definitely. It is best to make an appointment at least 3 to 4 days prior to the actual appointment itself. If you should be in a hurry, we will do our best to accommodate to give you the beautiful nails you desire. Our motto: The impossible will be taking care of immediately, Miracles take a little longer!
HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO GO?
Since the natural nail continues to grow with the gel on top, the exposed area of the nail should be re-filled regularly. Follow-up treatment should be every 4 to 6 weeks.
HOW MUCH STRESS CAN THESE NAILS ENDURE?
Our artificial nails are 60 times stronger than the natural nail. This does not means that they cannot be damaged and/or destroyed. You should first get used to the new length. Be mostly careful with car doors, making beds, opening jars, etc. With careless handling, artificial nails will break off and cause injury to your nail bed.
Rule of thumb: Don’t do anything with your artificial nails that you wouldn’t do with your natural ones!
HOW LONG SHOULD THE ARTIFICIAL NAIL BE?
Length and form of the nails is up to you, though we like to emphasize to our new clients a natural length. This way, you can get used to the new nail and through natural growth, the nail will become longer on its own.
SHOULD I POLISH MY NAILS?
No, because the artificial nails do not differ from natural nails in color. We do emphasize that a clear or inconspicuous color be used to protect the gap between the nail bed and nail.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF THE NAILS?
Care of artificial nails does not differ from natural nails. Filing, shortening of the nails and definitely using an acid-free based nail polish remover is all it takes. That’s it!
IF I NO LONGER WANT THE NAILS; WHAT DO I DO?
This is also not a problem. We carefully file away the gel layer on your nails and your natural nail will be refinished afterwards. Through this, no damage will come to your nail. We do ask to avoid tearing the gel away, because the upper layer of the nail comes off and only a thin layer remains (Paper nails-here´s an example!).
